Seoul Gourmet 2016

13233093_803995949738025_6624383171211467333_n Star chefs from all around the world will be gathering in the Korean capital to compete in the Seoul Gourmet 2016 competitions in restaurants and hotels across the city from June 7 through 12. 

The Seoul Gourmet is an annual event that started in 2009 for exquisite showcase of table art by the world’s top chefs. Added to this year’s invitation are chefs starred by the world’s renowned food dining reference Micheline Guide and the names mentioned in the San Pellegrino list of the World`s 50 Best Restaurants. 


Among the names are four Micheline Star chefs - Josean Alija who is heading Restaurante Nerua at Guggenheim Bilbao Museum in Spain and Wojciech Amaro, the owner and head chef of Poland’s first restaurant that earned Michelin Rising Star award. Viviana Varese, one of the most famous female chefs in Italy, will also join the Seoul Gourmet 2016 to present her signature seafood dishes. 13254191_804055279732092_7240508462957137520_n

Ken Hom who gained popularity here as the presenter of food documentary Noodle Road is also coming to Seoul. The American chef of Chinese descendant opened pan-Asian restaurant MEE in late 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and received a star from Michelin Guide in just one year of operation.

Virgilio Matinez Veliz whose restaurant was ranked top 4 on the San Pellegrino list of the World`s 50 Best Restaurants last year will join the festival to present Peruvian dishes. 

This year’s Seoul Gourmet food festival includes a special event Grand Gala at Conrad Seoul Hotel on June 10. The top chefs visiting the festival by invitation will collaborate to present a full course dinner by each preparing one or two dishes.
